Devil’s Slide
The Devil’s Slide is a natural attraction that consists of a giant rock formation with a vibrant red streak that streams down the face of the mountain. This attraction was first discovered long before expeditions took place in Montana, however, it did not receive a name until the Washburn expedition in 1870. Before the formation obtained its famous title known as “Devil’s Slide”, it was first known as Red Streak Mountain.
This beautiful formation is known best for its two key features: the imposing ridges of the slide and the dark streak of red that runs through the middle of the formation. The actions that led to the creation of the slide came from exposed rock that eroded at different rates down the surface of the mountain. Although not directly located in Yellowstone National Park, Devil’s Slide is a marvelous sight to see that also adds to the unique landscape Montana has to offer. This formation has rooted curiosity in many of its previous visitors and continues to provoke admiration in those who visit this present day. We hope you see the beauty right in front of your eyes!
